22 Years ago a local man, Cyril Williams (Cizzy) decided he wanted to help his local club. He took on the huge task to design and build the press box as you see it today, this would be our first brick built structure and setting the club up to meet future league criterias. Cizzy was a fully qualified Surveyor and time served bricklayer with a young family of 6, he would go on to dedicate unknowingly the last few months of his life helping his club and community. Evenings and weekends you find him there chipping away at his idea of a new press box. Half way through the build Cyril suddenly and tragically died in his sleep, aged 42 leaving complete devastation amongst family and many friends. The press box seemed so unimportant and insignificant after such a loss but an amazing thing happened – Cizzy’s family and friends came together to finish what he started, all chipping in on labour and materials, many local businesses also helping to ensure the project could be completed to honour a wonderful man that we will never forget. This story is known to many but worthy to be retold to future generations as you don’t hear too many story’s such as this! Llandudno FC don’t ever want this unique act of kindness to be forgotten.
Well we are reaching out once again as the balcony and steel work now needs replaced, if anyone feels they could help in anyway with donations, labour or materials we would be so grateful to ensure we keep the press box standing in memory of our unique friend Cyril Williams.
