Club Statement

As many will be aware Llandudno FC has been working to secure a grant from the Welsh Government’s Communities Facility Programme. This application was written with support from an individual with years of experience in sourcing grant funding. This was aimed at renewing our 3G Pitch and installing LED Floodlights.

Despite initially receiving positive informal feedback from the funding panel, we have today been informed that the Welsh Government has rejected our application. This decision is deeply disappointing and a decision that we intend to review thoroughly once we have received the full written response from the funding body.

This decision comes on the back of Llandudno Live Festival. An open-air music event that, whilst tremendously successful as an event and in raising the profile and the plight of our community club, did not prove to be the financial success originally believed possible. This was down to a number of culminating factors that often plague a first-time event held under such circumstances. This is despite the huge amount of effort put in by a team of volunteers who organised and run this event free of charge on behalf of Llandudno FC.

We are utterly devastated and deflated with this decision as we know our fans will be as well. Our supporters have throughout one of the most challenging periods in our club’s history remained loyal and supportive.

This evening players associated with Llandudno FC have been informed of the situation and we are working to secure a venue and team ready for the start of the season.

Llandudno FC will now also look to obtain further external funding and will strive to protect the heart of our club, which has always been the community which we are so proud to be a part of. Although the road ahead appears beset with challenges, we intend to face every single one of them to the best of our ability.

As we have said in our previous statements and during a public meeting at the start of the year, we remain open to anyone who believes that they can offer something to join Llandudno FC to help us re-build our community club for the future.

There will be a public meeting held at Llandudno FC at 7pm on Monday, 10/07/2023.

In the days and weeks ahead, we will be keeping our valued supporters well-informed of any new developments or breakthroughs. We vow to maintain open lines of communication.
